We will help you navigate the Canadian “tax amnesty” program.
If you have unreported income, unfiled returns or undisclosed foreign assets, CRA's Voluntary Disclosure Program lets you correct the situation and may give you relief from penalties and part of the interest. It is often called Canada's "tax amnesty".
To qualify, the disclosure generally has to be voluntary (made before CRA contacts you about the issue), complete, and involve information that is at least one year past due. The program rules were updated in October 2025, and the relief available depends on whether CRA had already started looking at the issue.
Indus Canada CPA assesses whether the VDP is the right route, prepares the application with the corrected returns and foreign reporting (such as the T1135), and handles all CRA correspondence. We then help you stay compliant going forward.
Our team works alongside trusted legal and financial alliance partners to deliver coordinated tax strategy, compliance, and advocacy — so clients move forward with clarity and confidence.
It is a CRA program that lets taxpayers come forward to correct past errors or omissions, in exchange for possible relief from penalties and part of the interest.
Relief is generally greater when the disclosure is unprompted. Once CRA has started enforcement on the issue, VDP relief may be reduced or unavailable.
It isn't required, but the application must be complete and accurate. A professional review reduces the risk of rejection.
